Cook got an overwhelming applause when he landed at the ground, and again when he cleared out toward the day’s end as he lined up his first-innings 71 with another thumping of his 12-year Test vocation.
India had before been resuscitated by 56 from debutant Hanuma Vihari and a swashbuckling 86 not out by Ravindra Jadeja.

Jadeja included 32 for the tenth wicket with last man Jasprit Bumrah as India, got themselves to 292 runs.
That left England 40 runs ahead, yet Cook’s 125-ball stay guaranteed there would be no wicket frenzy to enable the voyagers to proceed with their restoration.
Alastair Cook…one final time. Perhaps, one final session. Modern Day Legend…. #respect #engvind

He was joined by his successor as captain, Joe Root, who moved smoothly to 29 not out by end of the day.
At present, England holds an unassailable 3-1 lead in the arrangement.
With Alastair Cook 46 not out I recommend every Cricket Fan to be at the Oval tomorrow please ? #ENGvsIND
