Highlights:

  • Delhi Daredevils were led into the match by their new captain, Shreyas Iyer against Kolkata Knight Riders. Kolkata won the toss and decided to field first at Delhi’s home ground.
  • The Daredevils looked completely different under their new captain as Shaw and Munro, Delhi’s openers laid down a solid platform for Delhi.
  • Delhi batsmen were phenomenal today and apart from Pant who got a golden duck every Delhi batsmen went berserk on Kolkata bowlers.
  • The Knight Riders were counting on their spinners to take wickets, however Iyer led his men from the front as he finished unbeaten of 93* from 40 balls. This helped his team to post 219 runs; The biggest total of this IPL season.
  • KKR knew they had to bat sensibly and aggressively to chase down this total however, Delhi was not going to let go easily as they took timely wickets to restrict Kolkata from taking control of the match.
  • Some late shows of power-hitting were demonstrated by Andre Russell however, it was not enough for KKR as they lost the match in the end.
  • Delhi would be relieved to pouch their second win in this IPL that will help them stay alive in this tournament.
