Delhi Daredevils D/L Revised 1st innings total:  196/6 (17.1 Overs, RR: 11.41)

Performers:

  • Batting: RR Pant 69 off 29 balls, SS Iyer 50 off 35 balls, PP Shaw 47 off 25 balls.
  • Bowling: Jofra Archer 1/31 in 3.1 overs, Ben Stokes 0/28 in 3 overs.

Target:  151 runs from 12 overs

Rajasthan Royals D/L Revised 2nd innings total:  146/5 (12 Overs, RR: 12.16)

Result:   Delhi Daredevils won by 4 runs (D/L method)

Man of the Match: RR Pant

Highlights:

  • Delhi Daredevils were having a nightmare at the IPL as they stood last at the points table.
  • It was the last chance for them to showcase their talent as win this match against Rajasthan Royals.
  • So, Royals won the toss and elected to field first after the match was reduced to 18 overs due as rain delayed the match.

  • Nevertheless, Delhi showed their batting prowess as their young guns fired yet again to take Delhi to a dominating total.
  • Indian youngsters namely PP Shaw, RR Pant and Delhi’s captain Shreyas Iyer showcased their skills to put 196 runs on the scoreboard.
  • On the other hand, Rajasthan bowlers were pretty average as no bowler seemed to be in control of the match.
  • Royals now needed 197 runs to win this match from 18 overs. However, rain came again and the revised target now became 151 runs from 12 overs. The Royals started off their innings in a blazing fashion as Jose Buttler went berserk on Delhi’s bowlers. Short supported his partner as he also contributed valuable runs on the scoreboard.
  • However, Delhi’s bowlers pushed to the very last ball and succeeded in retaining Rajasthan to 146 runs. The Royals lost the match by only 4 runs.
  • The credit goes to Delhi Daredevils who did a collective effort as a team to rise from the bottom of the table.
