IPL 2018: Highlights of Match 32 & Points Table as of 2nd May
· Chennai batsmen attacked Kolkata’s main weapon i.e spin. But, it was not long before the spinners struck back as the top order batsmen failed to convert their starts into big scores.
· But, just as Kolkata were tightening their grip on the match, Chennai’s captain M.S Dhoni rained down on their bowlers as he took Chennai to a respectable total of 177 in 20 overs.
· Among KKR Narine was the most successful bowler as he collected 2 wickets by only giving 20 runs off his 4 overs. KKR now needed 178 runs to win this match.
· So, the 2nd innings started and as expected, Chennai struck early as Lynn was caught behind by Ngidi’s superb bowling.
· After that, the explosive batsman, Narine was dropped twice by Jadeja in two balls. This cost Chennai as the batsman gave his team a blistering start by scoring 32 off 20 balls.
· The rest was done Dinesh Karthik and Shubhan Gill as both batsmen showed composure and aggressive batting skills to take KKR over the line. It was their partnership of 83 runs that took CSK out of the match.
· So, it was a comfortable victory for KKR and if not for a few dropped catches this would have been a different story altogether.
· Nevertheless, KKR won the match by 6 wickets and moved up to 3rd position in the IPL table, just below CSK.
