ITF – International Tennis Federation announced that the ITF World Tennis Tour will commence during August in two phases:
- 3rd August for the women’s events and
- 17th August for the men’s events
Both the events will have rounds which will all include singles qualifying, main draw singles and doubles.
ATP, WTA, USTA and FFT has already confirmed resumption of the tours and holding of the US Open and Roland Garros-French Open.
The ITF World Tennis Tour calendar is subject to change as is the case with the ATP and WTA provisional calendars. Although, ITF anticipates that around 80% of ITF World Tennis Tour events that are being scheduled during the August-September will be held during this year.
As to the Ranking points they have been frozen since 16th March 2020. The ITF is in discussion with the ATP and WTA Tours to reintroduce the ranking points through out World Tennis Tour events. ITF President, Mr. David Haggerty, commented that coronavirus pandemic has been a difficult period but we are content that international tour competition will be able to restart during in August.
