Barcelona managed to remain within the closing distance to the top of the leaderboard at the Spanish Football League La Liga after beating Levante 2-1 thanks to Ansu Fati’s record-making twin goals.
The 17-year-old Fati starred in the important league match and scored two goals on Lionel Messi’s passes to become the youngest-ever player in the league’s history to achieve the feat.
An ecstatic Fati credited his team management and mostly his personal idol Messi for their support as the teenage sensation goes on to make and break more records in the league’s history.
Barcelona coach Quique Setien also praised the young breakout star for his sensational play and was visibly excited to land just three points behind the League’s leaders Real Madrid as the La Liga moves towards the final phase.
Levante who had earlier beaten Barcelona 3-1 back in November was looking for a repeat but could not fight through the tough defenses mounted by the hosts. Ruben Rochina was the only scorer from the visitors’ side.
Meanwhile, Getafe won 2-0 at Athletic Bilbao to rise to third place, moving ahead of Sevilla which drew 1-1 at home with Alaves.
Villarreal downed Osasuna 3-1 thanks to debutant Paco Alcacer’ opening goal and later penalty point.
Leganes registered a 2-1 win over Real Sociedad to push them further towards the drop zone as Oscar Rodriguez scored the winning goal in the stoppage time on a free-kick.
