1. Delhi Daredevils faced off Kings XI Punjab and with both teams being supervised by different captains it was always going to interesting and thrilling. 2. So, Kings XI won the toss and elected to field first in hopes of chasing down the total that Delhi was about to put on the scoreboard. 3. Delhi Daredevils started at a slow pace and this costed Colin Munro’s wicket as he got out in an attempt to fast track Delhi’s innings. Gautam Gambhir showed some class and reached his fifty from 36 balls. 4. Kings XI Punjab did a fine job in getting timely wickets to restrict Delhi from going berserk on them. Kings XI looked in fine control throughout the match. 5. But this did not stop Rishabh Pant Chris Morris from blasting a late cameo as they propelled Delhi to a total of 166 runs. 6. The Kings XI now needed 167 runs to win this match. Delhi thought that this score was enough but little did they know that Kings XI opener KL Rahul had other plans in his mind. 7. After KL Rahul blasted IPL’s fastest fifty, Karun Nair did well to anchor Kings XI innings but after he got out in the 16th over things got quite interesting. 8. With 29 runs needed of 26 balls and Marcus Stoinis and David Miller on the crease Kings XI still looked firmly in control of the match. 9. Both batsmen showed great composure as they took their team to the ending line in the 19th over of the match to win the match quite comfortably. 10. So, Kings XI Punjab opened their account in IPL 2018 with a solid win all thanks to KL Rahul who scored all around the ground to turn the tables on Delhi. |
