The US investment firm Dorilton Capital has bought the Formula 1 Team Williams. The team was put up for sale in May 2020. The England based Williams had been famous for winning the World Championship 1997 with the Canadian driver Jacques Villeneuve.
Since its foundation in 1977, the Williams Formula 1 Team has won 9 Constructor titles and 7 Driver titles. Few days ago Williams has already signed the new Concorde Agreement 2020-2025 for F1.
Williams was at 18th position during the latest Spanish Grand Prix 2020 at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on 16th August.

Despite the sale, the Williams team will perform with the same name and operate from the same British base in future.
Prior to the sale the Williams was a British family-owned team with Sir Franck Williams as Principal and Claire Williams as Deputy Team Principal. But from now on Williams will be owned by an American firm Dorilton Capital.
During the World Championship 2020 the Canadian Nicholas Latifi and the British George Russel have been driving the Mercedes for Williams.
