National Open Polo C’ship For Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup ’19 – Final: Master Paints Black To Play Master Paints
LAHORE: Master Paints Black breezed into the main final of the International Steels National Open Polo Championship for Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup 2019 after routing Diamond Paints/Newage by 11-5 in the crucial match played at Lahore Polo Club ground.
It was Ahmed Ali Tiwana, who played vital role in Master Paints Black victory as he hammered superb six goals while Matias Vial Parez equally played well and contributed with a quartet and Raja Temur Nadeem struck one goal. From the losing side, Salvador Ulloa hammered a hat-trick while Mir Shoaib Ahmed and Hissam Ali Hyder converted one goal apiece.
Although Master Paints Black made a good start by scoring a field goal through Matias to take 1-0 lead but Diamond Paints/Newage made a strong comeback and slammed in three back-to-back goals to gain 3-1 lead in the first chukker.
Master Paints Black changed their gears in the second chukker and succeeded in hammering a hat-trick against one by Diamond Paints/Newage to draw the score at 4-4. Matias banged in a brace and Ahmed Ali hit one for Master Paints Black while Hissam scored one for Diamond Paints/Newage.
The third chukker was identical to the second one as once again three goals came from Master Paints Black – a brace by Ahmed Ali and one goal by Raja Temur – while a single goal was converted by Diamond Paints/Newage through Salvador to finish the chukker with Master Paints having 7-5 lead.
The only goal of the fourth chukker was scored by Master Paints Black through Matias to further enhance their lead to 8-5 while they fully dominated the fifth and decisive chukker by added another hat-trick in their tally to win the match by 11-5. Ahmed Ali slammed in all the three goals in the last chukker.
Barry’s beat BBJ Pipes
In another match of the day, Barry’s beat BBJ Pipes by 6-4 to set subsidiary final date against Diamond Paints/Newage.
From Barry’s, Bautista Bayuger fired in fabulous five goals while Raja Mikael Sami hit one. From BBJ Pipes, Nicolas Corti struck two goals while Mumtaz Abbas Niazi and Ahmed Zubair Butt contributed one goal each.
