Obituary – Football : Ray Wilkins Former Chelsea Midfielder Dies
An English football player, Raymond Colin Wilkins who played as a midfielder and later provided coaching services died today at the age of 61.
His achievements for Chelsea were exceptional as he played for the English club from 1973-1979 and scored 30 goals in 179 appearances. He had been a coach of several football clubs that included Queens Park Rangers, Fulham, Jordan and Chelsea.
Wilkins, had been in a hospital located in London after he had suffered a cardiac arrest last week. But he could not survive and this incident resulted in his demise.
The player’s death was announced by his former club Chelsea where he played as a key midfielder.
Chelsea along with other fans expressed their sorrow on social media where they labelled him as a team player and excellent mid-fielder who was fully dedicated to his team all his life.
