Not many of us are aware that there are two Olympic events – Summer and Winter editions. Summer are the type which were recently held in Paris and Winter like the one which took place last in Beijing.

So after the recent Paris 2024 Olympic the frequent question is that where would the next edition of the Olympic take place? The answer is …

Winter Olympics

The next Olympics will be the Winter edition during 2026 which will be co-hosted in Italy’s two cities – Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo from 6th till 22nd February.

The last Winter Olympics were hosted in Beijing, China. Interestingly, upon doing so Beijing is the only city to have hosted both the Winter and Summer Olympics (during 2008).

After 2026 Winter Olympics the host rights have been awarded to the following cities-countries:

  • 2028 Summer Olympics – Los Angeles, USA
  • 2030 Winter Olympics – French Alps, France
  • 2032 Summer Olympics – Brisbane, Australia
  • 2034 Winter Olympics – Salt Lake City, USA

The Italian cities were awarded the hosting rights during 2019. This would be the fourth time that Olympics are held in Italy. The earlier hosting were: 1956 Winter Olympics in city of Cortina d’Ampezzo, 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome and 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. As a record for 1944 Winter Olympics, Cortina d’Ampezzo was also selected, however, due to World War II it did not take place.
