In-person scrabble returned to Pakistan with a bang with the 2nd ranking scrabble tournament played at Beach Luxury hotel. 90 players of all skill levels participated in three categories, namely Master, Recreational and Novice.
Pakistan’s No. 1 Waseem Khatri was unstoppable in the Master category. Waseem took the trophy with 9 wins out of 9 games and had a spread of 1082. Young Saim Waqar stood 2nd with 7 wins and a spread of 475. Rising star Shan e Abbas also won 7 games but finished 3rd with a spread of 474
The Recreational category saw the girls taking the top three positions. Maryam Pardesi took the winner’s trophy with 7 wins and a spread of 500. Manhamah Mukarram finished 2nd with 6 wins and a spread of 807 while Syeda Atika finished 3rd with 6 wins and a spread of 650
The dominance of girls was even more pronounced in the Novice category with the girls taking no less than 9 of the top ten positions. Munazza Pardesi was the winner with a 6-1 record. Rania Waseem also won 6 games but finished 2nd with a lower spread. Shayan Waseem who finished 3rd was the only boy in the top ten.
Chief Guest Mr. Umair Masood, Area head of Bank Alfalah distributed the trophies to the winners.
