Pakistan First Ever Ice Hockey Match Played In Naltar PAF Team Wins
ISLAMABAD: Finally Ice Hockey has found its ground in Pakistan. The first ever Ice Hockey match of Pakistan was played today, in Naltar, as part of the Winter Sports being organized in Naltar and Malam Jabba.

The teams which were part of this first ever record were the teams of GB Scout and Pakistan Air Force. The players of both the teams despite playing a competitive match for the first time showed some extraordinary skills. The match remain score less as no team could score a goal within stipulated time.
Thereby, the match result was decided based on Penalty shoot out, in which only one goal was scored by Shahsyar for Pakistan Air Force the winning team.
Despite having some of the highest snow laid areas in the world, for some reason Ice Hockey never became part of sports in Pakistan. Globally Ice hockey is played in many countries of Europe, USA, Canada, etc. as even a national sport.
The history of Ice Hockey in Gilgit Baltistan Region can be related to a local game “Ghatal”, which is also played with two sticks and a ball. To continue the legacy of this traditional game, Ice Hockey has been introduced in the region.
