Man of the Match: Shane Watson
Highlights:
- Delhi Daredevils were at the bottom of the table and they needed to win this match against Chennai if they wanted to make it to the playoffs. However, it was not going to be easy as CSK were looking in prime form.
- So, the match began as Delhi won the toss and chose to bowl first. CSK got off to a blistering start as Shane Watson went berserk on Delhi’s bowlers.
- CSK reached 100 runs in 11 overs and 200+ runs were definetly on the cards. After Watson got out after a well-made 79, Dhoni and Rayudu provided the finishing touches as CSK made 211 runs in 20 overs.
- Delhi now had to chase this mammooth total in order to win this match. Delhi needed a good start but as expected their openers failed yet again as CSK ripped through Delhi’s batting line-up.
- Apart from Rishabh Pant and Vijay Shankar no other Delhi batsmen contributed well enough and this resulted in yet another loss for Delhi.
- Maybe if Delhi batsmen had accelerated early, they would have won the match however, their procrastination lost them the match.
- On the other hand, CSK claim the top spot from SRH and are now firmly placed at the top of the table
