·         Girona: Cristhian Stuani 44’

Highlights:

·         It was always going to be a close match as both teams stood quite close to each other on the La Liga points table.

·         The scoring was opened by Getafe’s player Amath who netted the ball at the 17th minute.

·         However, Girona replied fittingly as Cristhian levelled the scoreboard by scoring a penalty just before the 2nd half.

·         After that no team could manage to score a tie-breaker as the match was drawn in the end and both teams got 1 point each.

·         Girona, could have won the match however their lack of shot accuracy contributed greatly in drawing the match.

Match 7 of 10: Alaves Vs Athletico Madrid

Highlights:

·            Athletico Madrid were 30 points clear of Alaves before this match, however Alaves were not easy to beat.

·            Alaves took their chances but Athletico Madrid were ranked 2^nd in La Liga for a reason; they win.

·            And, that’s exactly what they did as Kevin Gameiro netted a penalty at the 77^th minute to put his team in the lead.

·            Athletico Madrid dominated in every aspect of the game as they took their chances and converted them brilliantly.

·            Alaves also played as a team and if it were not for that penalty this would have been a draw.

·            After this win, Athletico Madrid retained their position on the points table just below Barcelona.

Match 8 of 10: Valencia Vs Eibar

Result: 0 – 0

Highlights:

·            Valencia needed to win this match to overtake Real Madrid on the La Liga points table, however Eibar did not allow them to do so.

·            Although, Valencia produced more chances and were ahead of their opponents in every department. However, they could not even score a single goal.

·            Eibar’s defense was commendable as despite being a weaker team they showed great composure in the match.

·            However, Eibar had managed to win this match they would have broken into the top 10 rankings of the La Liga table.

·            But, it did not happened as they now rank 12^th on the La Liga table. 

Match 9 of 10: Deportivo Vs Barcelona

Result: 2 – 4

Goal Scorers:

·         Barcelona: Philippe Coutinho 6’, Lionel Messi 37’,81’,84’

·         Deportivo: Lucas Perez 39’, Emre Colak 63’

Highlights:

·         Barcelona needed to draw or win in this match against Deportivo to claim the Premier League title.

·         However, the Deportivo who are currently ranked 18^th on the La Liga table did not allow Barcelona to walk off easily.

·         However, the day belonged to Lionel Messi as he scored a hattrick to lead Barcelona to an easily won La Liga title.

·         Messi also became the first player to score more than 30 goals in 7 straight La Liga seasons.
