Alexander Zverev in a commanding manner had won the first two sets. During which the second seed and later winner was engulfed in all sorts of problems. However, during the third set Dominic started showing his level by winning the third set, even after a break down.
The final match score was: 2-6, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 7-6(8-6).

Dominic was runner-up at the 2020 Australian Open, lost the French Open during 2018 and 2019.
-Became the first Grand Slam champion besides Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal or Roger Federer since Switzerland’s Stan Wawrinka who won the third of his major title at the 2016 US Open.
