Serena Williams has qualified for quarter finals of the US Open 2020 after beating Maria Sakkari.
The match lasted for a complete three set game. Williams won the first set 6-3. However, lost the second set 6-7 and went on to convincingly win the third set 6-3.
This was the second time the two had played. Williams being at World rank 3 had a psychological advantage over Sakkari who is ranked 15. On the contrary Sakkari also had an edge over Williams as she had defeated Williams in the recently held Western and Southern Open 2020 tournament.
