#3 Virat Kohli
A standout amongst the most consistent players of the 21st century is India’s captain Virat Kohli. Originally from Delhi, the batsman rose to fame upon driving India to the Under-19 World Cup in 2008.
Since his debut, Kohli’s sheer energy to win has been the difference between India and other cricketing nations. Having scored hundreds at more than one batting positions, Kohli is what every batsman desires to be.
Virat Kohli’s consistency is what allowed to amass runs in limited overs cricket and finally he was given a chance in the Test side. Initially, his test batting was quite disappointing as the batsman failed to capitalize on his chances. But it was only a matter of time before King Kohli defined his character by scoring a hundred against Australia.
Post this century, Kohli never looked back and even after being given the weight of captaincy, the Indian batsman scored 6 hundreds in two consecutive seasons. At present, Kohli has amassed 5554 runs with an average of 53.4 and has 21 hundreds &16 fifties to his name so far.
#4 Kane Williamson – Captain
The number four spot goes to New Zealand’s captain, Kane Williamson who is ostensibly their best batsman since the unbelievable Martin Crowe.
Williamson made his debut in 2010, and his incredible potential to play spin resulted in an unblemished hundred against India.
However, due to several set of injuries and inconsistent patches, the Kiwi batsman could not unleash his true potential. But, in 2015 he etched his name in the big leagues when he scored 1172 runs at a staggering average of 90.
Apart from being a consistent batsman, Williamson’s strategic sharpness was awarded when he was given the Test captaincy. The Kiwi batsman did not get burdened by the leadership role and at present he has amassed 5338 runs from 65 matches with 18 hundreds and 26 fifties to his name.
His street smartness and overall ability to understand the game also makes him the captain of this Test XI.
