BWF-Badminton World Federation confirmed that no further tournaments will be played in between the qualifying window of Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
According to the Revised Tokyo 2020 Qualification System, while the qualification period officially closes on 15th June 2021, the current Race To Tokyo rankings list will not change.
The invitations will be sent shortly and the final participation lists along with the seedings will be published at the conclusion of this process.
The BWF Secretary General Thomas Lund mentioned that the Olympic qualification process is effectively closed as the players do not have any additional opportunities to earn points. Elaborated that the confirmations still have to be received from National Olympic Committees and Member Associations, thereby, the process will take a number of weeks to be completed. The deadline for Tokyo 2020 Sport entries is 5th July 2021.
