UEFA Champions League Recap: Week 6 – Day 2
Allsportspk is presenting a series where the results and performance of each match is recapped. The UEFA Champions League is the most prestigious club competition in the football world and is held every season. The reigning champions are Real Madrid who have won the tournament back to back in the last two years. The current tournament started on the 12th of September 2017 and will finish on the 26th of May 2018.
This was the final day of the group stages in this year’s tournament. Teams which have qualified for the Round of 16 are:
Group winners: Manchester United (ENG), Paris (FRA), Roma (ITA), Barcelona (ESP), Liverpool (ENG), Manchester City (ENG), Beşiktaş (TUR), Tottenham Hotspur (ENG).
Group runners-up: Basel (SUI), Bayern München (GER), Chelsea (ENG), Juventus (ITA), Sevilla (ESP), Shakhtar (UKR), Porto (POR), Real Madrid (ESP).
The draw for the next stage will be held on Monday, 11 December in at UEFA HQ in Nyon, Switzerland.

The match wise recap of Day 2 of Week 6 in the UEFA Champions League is:
Real Madrid 3-2 Borussia Dortmund:
Cristiano Ronaldo became the first player in history to score in every Champions League group stage match as Real Madrid beat Borussia Dortmund 3-2 at the Santiago Bernabeu. Borja Mayoral and Ronaldo gave the current holders the lead before a brace from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang levelled the scoring. A late Lucas Vazquez strike gave Real the victory and meant they finished 2nd place with 13 points in Group H.
Liverpool 7-0 Spartak Moscow:
A scintillating display of football from Liverpool’s ‘Fab Four’ saw Jurgen Klopp’s side blaze their way into the Champions League knockout phase with a 7-0 victory over Spartak Moscow. Philippe Coutinho struck his first hat-trick in Liverpool colours and Sadio Mane scored a brace as well. The score line was further supplemented by goals from Salah and Firminho.
Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 APOEL Nicosia:
Fernando Llorente and Georges-Kevin Nkoudou scored their first goals for Tottenham as Spurs eased into the Champions League last 16 by beating Apoel Nicosia at home. Son Heung-min was also on the score sheet.
Shakhtar Donetsk 2-1 Manchester City:
Manchester City collapsed to their first defeat of the season with a 2-1 loss to Shakhtar Donetsk in their final Champions’ League Group F game. First-half goals from Brazilian pair Bernard and Ismaily shocked Pep Guardiola’s side on a cold night at the Metalist Stadium in Kharkiv, with Sergio Aguero’s injury-time penalty too late to affect the outcome.
UEFA Champions League Recap: Week 6 – Day 1
Maribor 1-1 Sevilla:
Sevilla also progressed to the next stage after drawing 1-1 away to Maribor, where Marcos Tavares’ header was cancelled out by the Spanish side’s Ganso.
Feyenoord 2-1 Napoli:
Napoli fell to a defeat away from home to Feyenoord. Nicolai Jorgensen headed Feyenoord level after Piotr Zielinski had volleyed Napoli into an early lead and Jerry St Juste headed the Dutch side’s winner in added time, after they had Tonny Vilhena sent off for his second bookable offence.
RB Leipzig 1-2 Besiktas:
In Group G, Besiktas, who had already qualified as winners, won 2-1 in Germany against RB Leipzig thanks to Talisca’s added time goal. Naby Keita had cancelled out Alvaro Negredo’s goal from the penalty spot, while Leipzig midfielder Stefan Ilsanker was sent off in the 82nd minute for his second yellow card.
Porto 5-2 Monaco:
Porto got the win they needed to book the second qualifying spot in Group G by beating Monaco 5-2. Both sides went down to 10 men before the half-time interval when the Porto defender Felipe was dismissed for his foul on the Monaco midfielder Rachid Ghezzal, who was also shown a straight red card for retaliating.
