#3 UFC On Fox 17 – vs. Michael Johnson

Nate Diaz vs. Michael Johnson

Diaz finally paved his way to a title shot toward the finish of 2012, however in the wake of losing in that battle to the reigning champion Benson Henderson, the years that followed were the darkest of his career.

Late 2013 saw him overcome Gray Maynard, yet an agreement dispute at that point kept him out of the UFC for an entire year and when he returned, he scarcely resembled his old self and was whipped emphatically by Rafael Dos Anjos.

Build Up To The Fight

One more year passed with another agreement dispute with the UFC, and this is when Diaz was marked to battle Michael Johnson at UFC on Fox 17 in December 2015. And quite frankly, at that time it did not seem like a smart thought.

Johnson was falling off a misfortune to Beneil Dariush, yet that had been a poor judge’s choice and before that he had not tasted vanquish since mid 2013, winning four straight battles in great fashion. Also, more critically, he guaranteed that he would not give Diaz a chance to draw him into a fight, and would rather pick him off with his fleet-footed striking style.

In the first round Diaz, regardless of being fit as a fiddle, looked as corroded as many number of eyewitnesses had expected, as he struggled to discover his range with Johnson striking him over with a progression of low kicks.

However, the second round was whole different story. Abruptly, Diaz discovered his range and started to keep Johnson toward the end of his punches, while mostly incorporating a ramrod jab. In reply, Johnson could not fire back and unimaginably, the battle started to take after an exemplary Diaz classic, with the rival reacting to the bunch of insults and being drawn into a fight.

By the third round, unmistakably Diaz was in Johnson’s mind, and his confidence looked to be reaching the sky as he basically lit ‘The Menace’ up again and again with fresh blends, and finished the round in impudent fashion by going for a kneebar after the bell.

And although the battle went till the very end, Diaz won the fight in an obvious unanimous decision. Post battle, Diaz’s execution in the battle became sufficient to persuade individuals that he was a genuine UFC fighter with the ability to make a comeback on will.
