Women’s Doubles

Double’s: Nicole Melichar and Kveta Peschke vs Irina-Camelia Begu and Mihaela Buzarnescu

Result: Nicole Melichar and Kveta Peschke defeated Irina-Camelia Begu and Mihaela Buzarnescu by 5-7, 6-4, 6-4.

Highlights:

  • A sensational fight was witnessed between Nicole Melichar and Kveta Peschke and Irina-Camelia Begu and Mihaela Buzarnescu in all the three sets.
  • Although, Nicole Melichar and Kveta Peschke took a perfect start as they took the lead in the opening set of the match but they failed to extend it large enough for their opponent.
  • In the end, Irina-Camelia Begu and Mihaela Buzarnescu snatched the victory from them in the opening set of the match as Nicole Melichar and Kveta Peschke lost some points on their serve.

  • In the second set, Irina-Camelia Begu and Mihaela Buzarnescu opened the scoring of the set this time and were playing confidently.
  • On the other hand, Nicole Melichar and Kveta Peschke were also scoring points at a very fast pace.
  • However, in the end, Irina-Camelia Begu and Mihaela Buzarnescu faced defeat this time as they both failed to score the last two points first in quick succession.
  • The match came to the decisive set and this time Nicole Melichar and Kveta Peschke opened the scoring of this set.

  • However, a tough fight was again witnessed between the two pairs as the score reached 4-4. But, Nicole Melichar and Kveta Peschke finally claimed their victory in the third set by scoring the last two points first.
  • Nicole Melichar and Kveta Peschke made it to the Semi finals of Wimbledon 2018 where they will now play against Gabriela Dabrowski and Xu Yifan.

 

Wimbledon 2018: Singles – Quarter Finals

Double’s: Katerina Siniakova and Barbora Krejcikova vs Heather Watson and Tatjana Maria

Result: Katerina Siniakova and Barbora Krejcikova defeated Heather Watson and Tatjana Maria by 3-6, 7-6(5), 6-4.

Highlights:

  • Katerina Siniakova and Barbora Krejcikova took a great start in the opening set of the match as they took the lead with a powerful shot.
  • However, they failed to claim the victory in this set in the end as Heather Watson and Tatjana Maria did not let them to score more than a total of three points throughout the set.

  • In the second set, a resilient battle was witnessed between the two pairs as the set eventually came to a tie-breaker after the scores were levelled at both sides 6-6.
  • But this time, Katerina Siniakova and Barbora Krejcikova won the set as Heather Watson and Tatjana Maria dropped some points on their serve in the end.

  • The match came to the decisive set and both the pairs were scoring points quickly one after the other.
  • However, in the end, Katerina Siniakova and Barbora Krejcikova secured their win in the set as Heather Watson and Tatjana Maria failed to score the last two points first in quick succession.

  • Although, Heather Watson and Tatjana Maria made four points on an ace and made the same number of double faults(2), but still they failed to made it to the next round of Wimbledon Open.  
  • Katerina Siniakova and Barbora Krejcikova finally sealed their place into the Semi finals of Wimbledon 2018 where they will now play against Abigail Spears and Alicja Rosolska.
