Wimbledon 2018 Highlights: Day 4; Round of 64 – 1st Half Doubles

Men’s Doubles

Match: Marcelo Demoliner and Santiago Gonzalez vs Stefano Tsitsipas and Marius Copil

Summary: Marcelo Demoliner and Santiago Gonzalez took a perfect start as they dominated Stefano Tsitsipas and Marius Copil after a resilient fight in the first set by a margin of two points. However, a tough fight was again seen in the second set by Stefano Tsitsipas and Marius Copil as the score reached 4-4. But in the end, again Marcelo Demoliner and Santiago Gonzalez won the set after scoring the last two points in a quick succession.

In the third set, Stefano Tsitsipas and Marius Copil were playing confidently at the start but after some time, Marcelo Demoliner and Santiago Gonzalez started scoring quickly and gave a terrific defeat to them by a margin of four points.

Result: Marcelo Demoliner and Santiago Gonzalez defeated Stefano Tsitsipas and Marius Copil in Wimbledon 2018 by 6-4, 6-4, 6-2. Marcelo Demoliner and Santiago Gonzalez will now play against Franko Skugor and Dominic Inglot in the round of 32 of Wimbledon 2018.

 

Match: N. Sriram Balaji and Vishnu Vardhan vs Marcus Daniell and Wesley Koolhof

Summary: An absolute and exquisite performance was witnessed between the two pairs as two of the three sets came to a tie-breaker. In the first set, both the pairs played at their peak as the set eventually came to a tie-break. However, it was N. Sriram Balaji and Vishnu Vardhan who won the set on the tie-break as their opponents lost some points on their serve.

Despite facing a tough fight again, N. Sriram Balaji and Vishnu Vardhan won the second set as they scored the last two points in a quick succession. However, a tough battle was again witnessed in the third set, as it eventually came to a tie-breaker. Marcus Daniell and Wesley Koolhof again faced defeat as they were in pressure after their loss in the previous sets.

Result: N. Sriram Balaji and Vishnu Vardhan defeated Marcus Daniell and Wesley Koolhof in Wimbledon 2018 by 7-6(5), 6-4, 7-6(4). N. Sriram Balaji and Vishnu Vardhan will now play against Ben McLachlan and Jan-Lennard Struff in the round of 32 of Wimbledon 2018.

 

 

Match: Alexander Peya and Nikola Mektic vs Jurgen Melzer and Daniel Nestor

Summary: Alexander Peya and Nikola Mektic gave a terrible defeat to Jurgen Melzer and Daniel Nestor in the first set as they both were able to recover a total of three points. However, a tough fight was seen in the second set as Jurgen Melzer and Daniel Nestor were scoring the points quickly this time. However, in the end, Alexander Peya and Nikola Mektic again won the set as they managed to score the last two points in a quick succession.

In the third set, Jurgen Melzer and Daniel Nestor again struggled hard to win the set but, despite their hard work and efforts, they failed to win it as they dropped the last two points in a quick succession.

Result: Alexander Peya and Nikola Mektic defeated Jurgen Melzer and Daniel Nestor in Wimbledon 2018 by 6-3, 6-4, 6-4. Alexander Peya and Nikola Mektic will now play against Dusan Lajovic and Mirza Basic in the round of 32 of Wimbledon 2018.

 

Match: Ben McLachlan and Jan-Lennard Struff vs Nicholas Monroe and John-Patrick Smith

Summary: Ben McLachlan and Jan-Lennard Struff  took a perfect start as they dominated Nicholas Monroe and John-Patrick Smith after a resilient fight in the first set by a margin of two points. However, a sensational fight was again witnessed in the next set by Nicholas Monroe and John-Patrick Smith as the score reached 5-5. But in the end, again Ben McLachlan and Jan-Lennard Struff won the set after scoring the last two points in a quick succession.

In the third set, Nicholas Monroe and John-Patrick Smith were playing confidently at the start while on the other hand, Ben McLachlan and Jan-Lennard Struff were also scoring points quickly. In the end, Ben McLachlan and Jan-Lennard Struff claimed the victory by scoring the last two points first.

Result: Ben McLachlan and Jan-Lennard Struff defeated Nicholas Monroe and John-Patrick Smith in Wimbledon 2018 by 6-4, 7-5, 6-4. Ben McLachlan and Jan-Lennard Struff will now play against N. Sriram Balaji and Vishnu Vardhan in the round of 32 of Wimbledon 2018.

 

Match: Joao Sousa and Leonardo Mayer vs Fernando Verdasco and David Marrero

Summary: The first set was a worth-watching set as both the pairs were scoring points quickly one after the other. At last, the set came to a tie-breaker after a tough fight. But, Joao Sousa and Leonardo Mayer sealed their win on the tie-break as Fernando Verdasco and David Marrero lost some points on their serve.

In the second set, Fernando Verdasco and David Marrero again gave a tough fight to their opponents but, they again failed to win as they dropped the last two points in a quick succession. However, in the third set, Joao Sousa and Leonardo Mayer faced defeat on the tie-breaker but they gave a humiliating defeat to Fernando Verdasco and David Marrero in the fourth set and booked their place into the next round.  

Result: Joao Sousa and Leonardo Mayer defeated Fernando Verdasco and David Marrero in Wimbledon 2018 by 7-6(6), 6-4, 6-7(9), 6-1. Joao Sousa and Leonardo Mayer next match of the round of 32 at Wimbledon 2018 is yet to be decided.
