Wimbledon 2018: Mixed Doubles – Round of 16

Allsportspk presents to you the highlights of the round of 16 of mixed doubles of the Wimbledon 2018.

 

Double’s: Katarina Srebotnik and Michael Venus vs Chan Hao-Ching and Nikola Mektic

Result: Katarina Srebotnik and Michael Venus defeated Chan Hao-Ching and Nikola Mektic by 4-6, 7-6(2), 6-4.

Highlights:

  • Although, Katarina Srebotnik and Michael Venus took a perfect start as they took the lead in the opening set of the match but they failed to extend it large enough for their opponent.
  • In the end, Chan Hao-Ching and Nikola Mektic claimed their victory in the opening set of the match as Katarina Srebotnik and Michael Venus dropped some points on their serve.
  • In the second set, Chan Hao-Ching and Nikola Mektic opened the scoring of the set this time and were playing confidently.

  • On the other hand, Katarina Srebotnik and Michael Venus were also scoring points at a very fast pace.
  • After a sensational battle between the two pairs, the match eventually came to a tie-breaker as the scores were levelled at both sides 6-6.

  • Katarina Srebotnik and Michael Venus won the set on the tie-break as Chan Hao-Ching and Nikola Mektic failed to score more points first in the tie-break.
  • The match came to the decisive set and this time Katarina Srebotnik and Michael Venus opened the scoring of this set.

  • However, a resilient fight was again witnessed between the two pairs as the score reached 4-4. But, Katarina Srebotnik and Michael Venus finally claimed their victory in the third set by scoring the last two points first.
  • Katarina Srebotnik and Michael Venus made it to the Quarter finals of Wimbledon 2018 where they will now play against Ivan Dodig and Latisha Chan.

 

 Breaking – Wimbledon 2018: Federer Loses; Misses 9th Title Chance

Double’s: Juan Sebastian Cabal and Abigail Spears vs Robin Haase and Kirsten Flipkens

Result: Juan Sebastian Cabal and Abigail Spears defeated Robin Haase and Kirsten Flipkens by 6-3, 6-4.

Highlights:

  • Juan Sebastian Cabal and Abigail Spears took a perfect start in the opening set of the match as they took the lead with a powerful forehand shot.
  • Robin Haase and Kirsten Flipkens were also scoring points at a fast pace and were looking confident while playing.

  • However, Robin Haase and Kirsten Flipkens failed to claim the victory in this set in the end as Juan Sebastian Cabal and Abigail Spears did not let them to score more than a total of three points throughout the set.
  • In the second set, again both the pairs were scoring points rapidly.

  • After a long fight, the score reached 4-4 and any pair from the two could win this set.
  • However, in the end, Juan Sebastian Cabal and Abigail Spears secured their win in the set as Robin Haase and Kirsten Flipkens failed to score the last two points first in quick succession.

  • Although, Robin Haase and Kirsten Flipkens made five points on an ace as compared to Juan Sebastian Cabal and Abigail Spears who made only three points, but still they failed to made it to the next round of Wimbledon Open.  
  • Juan Sebastian Cabal and Abigail Spears finally sealed their place into the Semi finals of Wimbledon 2018 where they will now play against Harriet Dart and Jay Clarke.
