Wimbledon 2018: Day 6; Round of 32 – 2nd Half Of Doubles

Allsportspk presents to you the highlights of the second half of men’s and women’s doubles of Wimbledon 2018.

Men’s Doubles

Double’s: Raven Klaasen and Michael Venus vs Hans Podlipnik-Castillo and Marcelo Arevalo

Result: Raven Klaasen and Michael Venus defeated Hans Podlipnik-Castillo and Marcelo Arevalo by 6-4, 6-3, 6-4.

Highlights:

  • After a tough battle between the two pairs, Raven Klaasen and Michael Venus claimed victory in the first set as they scored the last two points in a quick succession in the end.

  • However, Hans Podlipnik-Castillo and Marcelo Arevalo showed some fight in the second set but Raven Klaasen and Michael Venus scored the points quickly and again won the set by a total of three points.

  • In the next set, Raven Klaasen and Michael again faced a tough fight but, they eventually won the set in the end as Hans Podlipnik-Castillo and Marcelo Arevalo failed to score the last two points first.

  • Raven Klaasen and Michael Venus successfully managed to seal their place into the round of 16 of Wimbledon 2018 where they will now face Leonardo Mayer and Joao Sousa.

 

Double’s: Divij Sharan and Artem Sitak vs Horacio Zeballos and Julio Peralta

Result: Divij Sharan and Artem Sitak defeated Horacio Zeballos and Julio Peralta by 6-7(5), 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(5), 6-4.

Highlights:

  • Both the pairs gave an exquisite performance in the first set as the set eventually came to a tie-breaker after the scores were levelled at 6-6.
  • Divij Sharan and Artem Sitak failed to win the set on the tie-break and also lost the next set by 4-6 as they both failed to score the last two points first.

  • In the third set, Divij Sharan and Artem Sitak gave a brilliant performance as they both did not let Horacio Zeballos and Julio Peralta to score more than three points.
  • However, bad luck again struck Horacio Zeballos and Julio Peralta as they lost the next set on the tie-break by 7-6(5).

  • The match came to the decisive set. After a resilient fight, Horacio Zeballos and Julio Peralta again lost the set in the end and failed to qualify for the next round.
  • Divij Sharan and Artem Sitak finally made it to the round of 16 of Wimbledon 2018 where now they will play against the Jonathan Erlich and Martin Matkowski.

 

Double’s: Leonardo Mayer and Joao Sousa vs Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela and Federico Delbonis

Result: Leonardo Mayer and Joao Sousa defeated Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela and Federico Delbonis by 6-1, 7-6(1), 6-4.

Highlights:

  • An absolute and worth-watching match was witnessed between the two pairs throughout the match.
  • Leonardo Mayer and Joao Sousa took a perfect start as they gave a humiliating defeat to Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela and Federico Delbonis in the first set by 6-1.

  • However, Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela and Federico Delbonis put up a great fight in the next set as it eventually came to a tie-breaker.
  • But in the end, Leonardo Mayer and Joao Sousa again snatched the victory in this set as Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela and Federico Delbonis both dropped some points on their serve.

  • In the fourth set, after a resilient battle, bad luck again struck Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela and Federico Delbonis as they lost the set by 4-6 in the end.
  • Leonardo Mayer and Joao Sousa will now play against Raven Klaasen and Michael Venus in the round of 16 of Wimbledon 2018.

 

Double’s: Maximo Gonzalez and Nicolas Jarry vs Scott Clayton and Liam Broady

Result: Maximo Gonzalez and Nicolas Jarry defeated Scott Clayton and Liam Broady by 7-6(4), 6-3, 1-2.

Highlights:

  • Scott Clayton and Liam Broady gave a tough time to Maximo Gonzalez and Nicolas Jarry in the opening set of the match as it eventually came to a tie-breaker.
  • However, Maximo Gonzalez and Nicolas Jarry won the set in the end as Scott Clayton and Liam Broady dropped some points on their serve.

  • In the next set, Scott Clayton and Liam Broady put up some great efforts but in the end, Maximo Gonzalez and Nicolas Jarry again clinched the victory by a margin of three points.

  • In the start of the third set, either Scott Clayton or Liam Broady got injured and they got retired from the Wimbledon 2018.
  • Maximo Gonzalez and Nicolas Jarry finally booked their place into the round of 16 of Wimbledon 2018 where they will now will now face Franko Skugor and Dominic Inglot.
