Wimbledon Open 2018 Highlights: Day 3 – 1st Half Singles
Allsportspk presents to you the qualifying matches of the first half of men’s and women’s singles of Wimbledon Open. The players that will win today’s match, will qualify for the main draw of Wimbledon Open 2018.
Men’s Singles
Match: Alex Bolt vs Thanasi Kokkinakis
Summary: It was an eyecatching performance between the two players. The Australian, Alex Bolt won the first set after a tough fight. However, Thanasi Kokkinakis struggled hard in the next set, but again Alex sealed his win in it. With two sets leading upfront, Alex Bolt failed to win the third set which was a big loss to him and the match finally came to the fourth set. Both the players struggled hard but in the end, Alex Bolt claimed the victory.

Result: Alex Bolt defeated Thanasi Kokkinakis by 7-6, 7-6, 4-6, 7-5. Alex Bolt has finally qualified for the main draw of Wimbledon Open 2018.
Match: Stephane Robert vs Luca Vanni
Summary: The Frenchmen, Stephane Robert gave an exquisite performance as he won the first set. However, Luca Vanni gave him a terrific defeat in the next set and the match came to the third set. In the third set, Stephane Robert claimed the victory when Luca lost some points on easy shots. In the fourth set, Stephane Robert finally gave a humiliating defeat to Luca Vanni as he did not let Luca score more than a point.

Result: Stephane Robert defeated Luca Vanni by 6-4, 3-6, 7-5, 6-1. Stephane Robert has finally qualified for the main draw of Wimbledon Open 2018.
Match: Jason Kubler vs Peter Polansky
Summary: Both the players gave their best in the first set but eventually Jason Kubler claimed the victory in it. In the second set, Peter Polansky was trailing behind and tried to recover the points but failed to do so and lost this set too. However, Peter Polansky survived the third set as he scored the last point first. In the fourth set, a tough fight was again witnessed but Jason Kubler won the deciding set.

Result: Jason Kubler defeated Peter Polansky by 7-6, 6-3, 6-7, 6-4. Jason Kubler has now finally qualified for the main draw of Wimbledon Open 2018.
Match: John-Patrick Smith vs Michael Mmoh
Summary: A humiliating defeat was faced by Michael Mmoh in the opening set of the match as he was only able to recover a total of two points. However, Michael Mmoh struggled hard to win the second set, but despite his hard work and good efforts, he lost it in the end by two points. Now the third set started after some time which was a decisive one for Michael. John Patrick-Smith again won the third set by leading three points upfront and made it to the main draw.
Australia’s John-Patrick Smith is the first of the Australian men to qualify for the main draw at Wimbledon. He defeated USA’s Michael Mmoh in straight sets 6-2, 6-4, 6-3. It will be Smith’s second main draw appearance at Wimbledon and fifth grand slam appearance. 0-4 at GS’s

Match: Ernests Gulbis vs Lorenzo Sonego
Summary: A sensational performance was witnessed today between Ernests Gulbis and Lorenzo Sonego. Ernests Gulbis easily claimed his victory in the first set by a margin of four points. However, Lorenzo Sonego gave a terrible defeat to him in the next set by three points. Pressure came on both the players as the third set started. Lorenzo struggled hard as he lost the third set by two points and unfortunately, he lost the fourth set too and finally failed to make it to the main draw.
Ernests Gulbis, who reached third round of #Wimbledon by beating del Potro last year, qualified this year. Beat Sonego in four in QR3.

Match: Stefano Travaglia vs Alessandro Giannessi
Summary: Although, Alessandro tried his best to recover the lead and win the firsts set, but eventually Stefano scored the last two points in a quick succession and won the opening set. In the second set, Stefano Travaglia gave a humiliating defeat to Alessandro as he was only able to score two points throughout the set. However, in the third set, Alessandro Giannessi gave a tough fight to Stefano but failed to win the set in the end.
Stefano Travaglia, who crashed through a window and now can only feel his racquet with the pinky finger on his right hand, reaches the #Wimbledon main draw, beating Giannessi.

Result: Stefano Travaglia defeated Alessandro Giannessi by 6-4, 6-2, 6-4. Stefano Travaglia has now finally qualified for the main draw of Wimbledon Open 2018.
Match: Christian Harrison vs Brayden Schnur
Summary: After a resilient fight between the two, Christian Harrison claimed the victory in the first set by scoring the last point first. However, Brayden Schnur again put up a great fight against Christian Harrison, but failed to seal his win in it. The match came to the deciding set for Brayden Schnur and he faced a humiliating defeat in it by 6-1 and eventually failed to qualify for the main draw of Wimbledon Open.
Very cool to see Christian Harrison and Bradley Klahn, two guys who have struggled with injuries in their career, make it through Wimbledon quals today. Can only imagine how good that feels.

Match: Ruben Bemelmans vs Bernard Tomic
Summary: The Belgian player, Ruben Bemelmans gave an absolute and outstanding performance today against Bernard Tomic. A promising fight was seen by Bernard in the first set but he lost some points on his serve which costed him the opening set. However, Ruben Bemelmans gave a humiliating defeat to Bernard in the next two sets as Bernard Tomic was in pressure after losing many points in the previous set.

Women’s Singles
Match: Barbara Haas vs Elena-Gabriela Ruse
Summary: An exquisite performance was witnessed in the firsts set as the Australian star, Barbara Haas did not let Elena-Gabriela Ruse to score a single point throughout the set. However, the Romanian, Elena did not lose hope and played confidently in the next set, but despite her hard work and good efforts, she lost the last two points in a quick succession, thus lost the second set too.
Barbara #Haas loses against Elena-Gabriela #Ruse 0:6, 5:7. After a MTO in the 2nd set, Haas looked in control at 4:2, but lost the next three games. She saved two MP at 4:5, but got broken in the 12th game. Still hast to wait for her 2nd major main draw after NY 2016. #Wimbledon

Match: Evgeniya Rodina vs Mayo Hibi
Summary: The 29-year old Russian, Evgeniya Rodina played confidently throughout the first set and dominated Mayo Hibi easily, as she was only able to recover a total of two points. However, in the second set, Mayo Hibi put up a great fight and the score became level after some time. But eventually, Evgeniya Rodina claimed victory in the second set and qualified for the main draw.

Match: Alexandra Dulgheru vs Tamara Zidansek
Summary: Tamara Zidansek fought well in the first set and finally sealed her win in it. However, in the second set, both the players gave a tough fight but unfortunately, Tamara Zidansek failed to win this time as she dropped the last point first. Alexandra Dulgheru gave a humiliating defeat to Tamara in the next set as she was not able to score a single point against her and booked her place into the main draw.

Summary: Both the players gave an absolute and outclass performance throughout the match. Viktoriya Tomova won the first set after a tough fight by two points in the end, but she failed to win the next set as Anna Kalinskaya scored the last point first with a powerful shot. In the deciding set, Viktoriya Tomova sealed her win in the end as Anna Kalinskaya was only able to recover a total of three points.
