Wimbledon 2018 Highlights: Day 1; Round of 128 – 1st Half
Allsportspk presents to you the highlights of the first half of round of 128 of Wimbledon 2018.
Men’s Singles
Match: Denis Novak vs Peter Polansky
Summary: Denis took a perfect start as he dominated the Canadian, Peter Polansky in the first set easily. In the second set, Peter again struggled hard but failed to win it as he again dropped some points on his serve. However, a tough fight was witnessed in the decisive set between them, but eventually Denis Novak again claimed the victory in the third set and made it to the next round.
Result: Denis Novak defeated Peter Polansky by 6-2, 6-3, 7-6(7). Denis Novak will now face Lucas Pouille in the round of 64 of Wimbledon 2018.
Match: Nicolas Jarry vs Filip Krajinovic
Summary: The Chile player, Nicolas Jarry won the first set in a dominant fashion by scoring the last three points in a quick succession. However, Filip Krajinovic came in action in the next set and claimed victory in it.
The third set was worth-watching as it came to a tie-breaker but ultimately Nicolas Jarry won it in the end as Filip dropped the last point on his serve. However, a good fight was again put up by Filip Krajinovic in the fourth set but eventually he again faced defeat by two points and failed to make it to the next round.
Result: Nicolas Jarry defeated Filip Krajinovic by 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(5), 6-4. Nicolas Jarry will now face Mackenzie Mcdonald in his next round of Wimbledon 2018.
Match: Marin Cilic vs Yoshihito Nishioka
Summary: Yoshihito Nishioka faced a humiliating defeat in the first set as he was only able to score a single point throughout the set. However, a resilient fight was witnessed in the next set, but Yoshihito Nishioka again faced defeat in the end by two points. In the next set, despite taking the lead, Yoshihito Nishioka again lost the set and Marin Cilic finally made it to the next round.

Result: Marin Cilic defeated Yoshihito Nishioka by 6-1, 6-4, 6-4. Marin Cilic will now play against Guido Pella in the round of 64 of Wimbledon 2018.
Match: Philipp Kohlschreiber vs Evgeny Donskoy
Summary: A sensational performance was seen by the German star, Philipp Kohlschreiber in the first set, as he easily dominated Evgeny Donskoy by a margin of four points. In the next set, Evgeny Donskoy put up a great fight but he eventually failed to win it too.
In the third set, again Philipp Kohlschreiber was given a tough time by Evgeny Donskoy but he failed to to win it as the German scored the last two points in a quick succession.
Result: Philipp Kohlschreiber defeated Evgeny Donskoy by 6-2, 6-4, 7-5. Philipp Kohlschreiber will now face Gilles Muller in his next round of Wimbledon 2018.
Match: Sam Querrey vs Jordan Thompson
Summary: Sam Querrey showed an outclass performance in the first set as he easily won it by a margin of four points. Even though, Jordan Thompson put up a good fight in the end, but still he lost it in the end as the American player, Sam Querrey scored the last two points first and won it.

The third set started which was a decisive one for Jordan but Sam Querrey again dominated him easily in the third set too and finally made it to the next round.
Result: Sam Querrey defeated Jordan Thompson by 6-2, 6-4, 6-3. Sam Querrey will now face Sergiy Stakhovsky in his next round of Wimbledon 2018.
Match: Sergiy Stakhovsky vs Joao Sousa
Summary: What an exquisite performance was witnessed between Sergiy and Joao in all the five sets. Sergiy Stakhovsky took a perfect start as he defeated Joao Sousa in the first two sets in a rhythm. However, Joao fought back in the third set and defeated him by scoring the last two points first.
In the fourth set, the Ukrainian, Sergiy Stakhovsky faced a humiliating defeat as he failed to score more than a point against Joao Sousa. The match came to a deciding set in which Sergiy Stakhovsky not only took the lead, but ultimately he won it by 6-4 in the end and booked his place into the next round.
Result: Sergiy Stakhovsky defeated Joao Sousa by 6-3, 6-3, 5-7, 1-6, 6-4. Sergiy Stakhovsky will now face Sam Querrey in the round of 64 of Wimbledon 2018.
Match: Lucas Pouille vs Denis Kudla
Summary: The Frenchmen, Lucas Pouille dominated Denis Kudla easily in the first set as Denis failed to score the last three points first. However, Denis Kudla faced a similar defeat in the second set and now the match came to the third set.

A sensational fight was witnessed by the American, Denis Kudla as he easily won the third set by a margin of four points. However, in the deciding set, Denis Kudla struggled hard and eventually failed to win the set in the end.
Result: Lucas Pouille defeated Denis Kudla by 6-3, 6-3, 2-6, 6-3. Lucas Pouille will now face Denis Novak in the next round.
Match: Gilles Muller vs Michael Mmoh
Summary: Michael Mmoh put up a great fight in the first set but Gilles Muller won it in the end by scoring the last two points in a quick succession. However, Gilles Muller lost the next set after struggling hard and the match came to the third set. After a tough fight in the third set, the match came to a tie-breaker in which Gilles Muller eventually sealed his win in the end.

But in the fourth set, Michael Mmoh save himself by winning the set with a margin of three points. Now the deciding set started in which Gilles Muller gave a humiliating defeat to Michael Mmoh as he failed to score more than a single point.
Result: Gilles Muller defeated Michael Mmoh by 7-5, 4-6, 7-6(7), 3-6, 6-1. Gilles Muller will now play against Philipp Kohlschreiber in the round of 64 of Wimbledon 2018.
Match: Jan-Lennard Struff vs Leonardo Mayer
Summary: An absolute and outstanding performance was seen between Jan-Lennard Struff and Leonardo Mayer throughout the match. Leonardo Mayer easily won the first set, but he faced a tough fight in the second set as the set came to a tie-breaker. However, Leonardo Mayer again won the second set on the tie-break and the match moved on to the third set.
The German, Jan-Lennard Struff came in action and defeated Leonardo Mayer in the next two sets on the tie-breaker in a rhythm.It was a shocking defeat for the Argentine player, Leonardo Mayer, but still he got a chance in the decisive set.
However, Jan-Lennard Struff gave a humiliating defeat to Leonardo in the fifth set as he was not able to make more than a point.
Result: Jan-Lennard Struff defeated Leonardo Mayer by 3-6, 6-7(5), 7-6(5), 7-6(5), 6-1. Jan-Lennard Struff will now play against Ivo Karlovic in the round of 64 of Wimbledon 2018.
Match: Guido Pella vs Jason Kubler
Summary: Despite facing a tough fight in the first two sets, Guido Pella still won both of them in the end as he managed to score the last two points in a quick succession. However, the Australian player, Jason Kubler came in action and won the next set in the end after struggling hard.
Jason Kubler can be proud.
He fought right until the end in his #Wimbledon debut, but has fallen to Argentina’s Guido Pella 4-6, 5-7, 6-4, 6-7(3).

In the fourth set, a sensational fight was witnessed as the set eventually came to a tie-breaker after a resilient fight. But, Guido Pella sealed his victory in the end on the tie-break and made it to the next round.
Result: Guido Pella defeated Jason Kubler by 6-4, 7-5, 4-6, 7-6(3). Guido Pella will now face Marin Cilic in his next round of Wimbledon 2018.
Women’s Singles
Match: Evgeniya Rodina vs Antonia Lottner
Summary: Although, Evgeniya Rodina took the lead in the opening set, but she failed to win it as she lost a number of points on her serve. In the next set, both the players gave their best performance but in the end, Evgeniya Rodina won it as she scored the last two points in a quick succession.
The Russian, Evgeniya Rodina continued her winning ways and ultimately claimed her victory in the third set in the end by a margin of two points.
Result: Evgeniya Rodina defeated Antonia Lottner by 3-6, 7-5, 6-4. Evgeniya Rodina will now face Sorana Cirstea in her next round of Wimbledon 2018.
Match: Alexandra Dulgheru vs Kristyna Pliskova
Summary: Despite giving a tough fight to Alexandra Dulgheru in the opening set of the match, Kristyna Pliskova still failed to win it in the end after she dropped two points in a quick succession. However, Kristyna Pliskova gave a humiliating defeat to the Romanian player in the second set, as Alexandra Dulgheru was only able to make a single point throughout the match.

However, in the decisive set, Alexandra Dulgheru easily defeated Kristyna Pliskova by a margin of four points and finally sealed her place into the next round.
Result: Alexandra Dulgheru defeated Kristyna Pliskova by 6-4, 1-6, 6-2. Alexandra Dulgheru will now play against Venus Williams in the round of 64 of Wimbledon 2018.
Match: Andrea Petkovic vs Zhang Shuai
Summary: The German player, Andrea Petkovic took a perfect start as she won the first set in the end after scoring the last two points in a quick succession. However, in the second set, Zhang Shuai fought well and eventually won it by two points as she scored them first in the end.
In the third set, Andrea Petkovic not only took the lead but she dominated the Chinese player, Zhang Shuai easily as the Chinese was not able to score more than two points throughout the set.
Result: Andrea Petkovic defeated Zhang Shuai by 6-4, 4-6, 6-2. Andrea Petkovic will now play against Yanina Wickmayer in the next round of Wimbledon 2018.
Wimbledon 2018 Highlights: Day 5; Round of 32 – 1st Half Doubles
Match: Karolina Pliskova vs Harriet Dart
Summary: A nail-biting competition was witnessed in the first set between Karolina Pliskova and Harriet Dart as it came to a tie-breaker after the scores were levelled at 6-6. But eventually, Karolina Pliskova sealed her win in the first set and the match moved on to the second set. In the second set, Karolina Pliskova faced a humiliating defeat as she was only able to score a total of two points throughout the set.
Karolina Plíšková would’ve been humiliated to lose that so I expected her to win but Harriet Dart gave a solid grand slam debut for winning a set against a Top 10 player and coming back on form after a nasty fall, she’s only age 21 and has some huge potential ? #Wimbledon

However, the Czech star, Karolina Pliskova took revenge in the next set as she defeated the British player easily, as Harriet Dart was not able to score more than a point throughout the set.
Result: Karolina Pliskova defeated Harriet Dart by 7-6(2), 2-6, 6-1. Karolina Pliskova will now play against Victoria Azarenka in the next round of Wimbledon 2018.
Match: Sorana Cirstea vs Magdalena Rybarikova
Summary: The Romanian player, Sorana Cirstea faced a resilient fight from Magdalena Rybarikova in the first set, but in the end it was Sorana Cirstea who claimed the victory and the match moved on to the second set. However, Magdalena Rybarikova took the lead in the second set, but still she lost a number of points on her serve which costed her the second set and she failed to make it to the next round.

Match: Yanina Wickmayer vs Mona Barthel
Summary: However a tough fight was witnessed in the first set between Yanina Wickmayer and Mona Barthel, but in the end the German player, Mona Barthel finally faced defeat in the end by two points and the match moved on to the second set. Yanina Wickmayer continued her winning ways and eventually won the second set too by scoring the last two points in a quick succession and finally made it to the next round.
Result: Yanina Wickmayer defeated Mona Barthel by 7-5, 6-4. Yanina Wickmayer will now play against Andrea Petkovic in the round of 64 of Wimbledon 2018.
Match: Donna Vekic vs Sloane Stephens
Summary: The Croatian player, Donna Vekic gave an absolute and outclass performance today as she gave a humiliating defeat in the first set to Sloane Stephens, who was not able to make more than a point throughout the set. However, the American player, Sloane Stephens struggled hard in the next set, but still she failed to win the second set and eventually lost it by three points in the end.
A year after her heartbreaking loss to Jo Konta, No.55 Donna Vekic scores an upset win over No.4 Sloane Stephens 61 63, converting her 4th MP.

Match: Camila Giorgi vs Anastasija Sevastova
Summary: What a sensational start was witnessed by the Italian star, Camila Giorgi as she gave a humiliating defeat to Anastasija Sevastova in the first set by 6-1. However, Anastasija Sevastova replied to her in the next set as she won it by a margin of four points in the end.
The match came to the decisive set and a tough battle was fought between them. However, in the end, Camila Giorgi booked her place into the next round after she won the decisive set by two points in the end.
Result: Camila Giorgi defeated Anastasija Sevastova by 6-1, 2-6, 6-4. Camila Giorgi will now play against Madison Brengle in the round of 64 of Wimbledon 2018.
Match: Ekaterina Makarova vs Petra Martic
Summary: Ekaterina Makarova and Petra Martic both gave their best in the first set as it eventually came to a tie-breaker. But in the end Ekaterina Makarova finally claimed the victory in the end on the tie-break and the match moved on to the second set.

Petra Martic replied to Ekaterina Makarova in the second set as she gave a humiliating defeat to Ekaterina by 2-6 and the match finally came to the deciding set. However, Ekaterina Makarova played brilliantly in the decider and won it easily by three points in the end.
Result: Ekaterina Makarova defeated Petra Martic by 7-6(0), 2-6, 6-3. Ekaterina Makarova will now face Caroline Wozniacki in the round of 64 of Wimbledon 2018.
Match: Venus Williams vs Johanna Larsson
Summary: Venus Williams and Johanna Larsson both showed an outstanding performance in the first set as it eventually came to a tie-breaker. But, the American star player, Venus Williams failed to won on the tie-breaker and the match moved on to the second set.
