Highlights:
- Brazil was the people’s favorites to win this encounter against a star studded Belgium.
- Things started going wrong for Brazil from the very first half as Fernandinho scored an own goal to put Belgium in the lead.
- Belgium were not holding anything back as some time later, De Bruyne led the Belgium counter attack and doubled the lead.
Lukaku deserves hella credit. Picked the ball from his own half and drove through #Bra like a tank. And De Bruyne finished off the counter-attack with an absolute rocket of a shot. Great assist / great goal for #Bel. #BraBel #WorldCup

- Brazil were extremely disappointing in the 1st half and could not score a single goal as it ended with Belgium in front with a two goal lead.
- In the 2nd half, Brazil’s prized attacker Firmino was substituted in for Willian. However, unlike Brazil, Belgium were quite solid in their defending strategy and was not letting the Brazilians score.
- In desperation, Brazil made two more substitutions and one of them was Renato Augusto who finally scored the opening goal for Brazil.
- The last 10 minutes of the match went underway as Brazil’s attacks caught more wind. But, Belgium remained strong till the end until Brazil was knocked out of the World Cup 2018.

Thought Lukaku was brilliant, thought Hazard was brilliant, but Kevin de Bruyne was just extraordinary. Against that class of opposition, too.

Hazard, De Bruyne and Lukaku all stood up and were counted tonight. Emphasis on the term ‘stood up’. It’s what the best players do on big stages like this. All three were superb. #BRABEL

Roberto Martínez said that the players deserved more credit than himself because in just 2 days they accepted his ideas and executed his tactical plan by sacrificing themselves.
That trident of Hazard, De Bruyne and Lukaku were most impressive today.
