Highlights:
- England started the match being the clear favorites to beat Colombia and seal their spot in the quarter finals of the FIFA World Cup 2018.
- On the other hand, Colombia weren’t a weak team either and the match was expected to be a cracking one.
- The 1st half started as the English attackers lead by Harry Kane searched for the opening goal of the match.
- But Colombian defenders were adamant in their defense as England couldn’t score a goal in the 1st half and neither did Colombia.
- In the 2nd half, Colombian players got yellow cards for pulling fouls on England’s leading attacker, Harry Kane; clearly opposite to the contrary to the spirit of the game.
- But, their fouls were finally rewarded as England got a penalty. Harry Kane took the shot and the English captain was successful and England were now in the lead.

- Pressure became evident on Colombian players as even more fouls were done in desperation to equalize the scoreboard.
- The match entered in the last minutes and surprisingly Yerry Mina scored a goal with a wonderful header to make it 1 – 1.

- Extra time started as both teams looked to find the tie-breaker. But a similar story continued and the match moved to the last event i.e. Penalty Shootouts.
- Penalties remained even till 3 – 3. But, a heroic save from England’s goalkeeper and a goal from Eric Dier put England in the Quarter-Finals.

Seriously guys, stop with the Yerry Mina and Sergio Ramos comparisons, it’s embarrassing.
Sergio Ramos never scored thrice in a single World Cup.— ????? Barça (@Stevecaresx) July 3, 2018
Yerry Mina’s not ideal for Barcelona, but the man will make waves if he plays for a club like Atletico Madrid. Impeccable on both boxes, he’ll be excellent in the right setup.

After 12 years we’ve finally got back to the Quarter finals!
I don’t think Sweden will be as easy as everyone thinks but I am so proud of the whole team (apart from Lingard!) They have really come on leaps and bounds under Southgate!#WorldCup #ENG
