World Scrabble Championship: Day 2 – Former Champion Nigel Leads
The World Scrabble Championship entered the second day at Torquay, England with the former world champion Nigel Richards climbing to the top of the A division at the end of day-two
Nigel is one win clear of the nearest rival and has a 14-3 record with a spread of 1418.
The 2014 world champion Craig Beevers is 2nd with 13 wins and a spread of 1604
Paul Allen who finished day-one on the top has slipped to the 3rd spot while the 2016 world champion Brett Smitheram is 4th with 12 wins
Pakistan’s duo of Waseem Khatri and Moiz Baig had a very good day with some important wins against the world’s best players. Waseem remained in the top ten for some time but a loss in the last game of the day pushed him to 12th position. Waseem has 11 wins and a spread of 636
The newly crowned junior world champion Moiz Baig had an even better day winning 7 of the nine games and tying one. Moiz finished day-two on the 7th position with 11.5 wins and a spread of 174
The B division continued to be dominated by Pakistani players. Playing against far more experienced players the Pakistani youth impressed everyone with their performance. Amazingly, the top five positions at the end of day-two are occupied by players from Pakistan
Hammad Hadi Khan, runner up of the junior world championship was in sizzling form winning 8 of the 9 matches played today. Hammad is firmly placed at the top having won 16 of the 17 matches played till now and has a spread of 1709. Hammad’s only loss came against his twin brother.
Sohaib Sanaullah also continued to be in great form. Sohaib has 15 wins and a spread of 2118.
Tariq Pervez made a strong comeback winning 7 of the 9 matches played today. Tariq ended day-two on the 3rd spot with 12 wins and a spread of 1203
Hassan Hadi Khan is currently 4th with 11 wins and a spread of 1090 while Absar Mustajab continued to impress being in the 5th spot with 11 wins and a spread of 34.
Terry Kang Rau of USA is the top non Pakistani player at the moment with 10.5 wins
