Mexico wins the first game and plays against USA on Sunday 30th for a spot in the XI World Polo Championship.
Thanks to the Orthwein family this morning Port Mayaca Polo Club’s amazing field 5 saw the first game of the Zone Playoff. Mexico and Guatemala met in the field, with the loser of the two playing against USA Team next Friday.
Mexico started playing better and passed the ball around, even tying the score at the end of the first chukker. The Mexican team managed to dominate the first half and took the lead but couldn’t score the penalties that were whistled. Guatemala worked their way through the match, closing in on Mexico, and even had a half goal advantage with less than two minutes left in chukker 5 after a spectacular neck shot from José Miguel Aguilar.
Cousins Gonzalez and Gracida from Mexico lead the game final attack and closed the encounter 10 to 9 1/2 after two exciting final chukkers.
